Fiona Shirley
Brief job history
I started my career working with young people by doing a Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance at Manchester Metropolitan University. Following this I worked at Connexions in Liverpool delivering careers advice to 13-19 year olds. After 3 years of this, I moved to Manchester to start work at Barnardo’s. This role involved helping care leavers to access employment, education, training and volunteering.
How you ended up at GMYN
I applied to GMYN to manage the Vinvolved project in Oldham in 2008 and luckily got the job!
What you do at GMYN
My role is now to manage the National Citizen Service project in Bury and Oldham
Hobbies/interests etc.
My passion is travel although I don’t do it as much as I would like to do! I also like to socialise and have recently started volunteering at Samaritans, which I thoroughly enjoy.
Any interesting or bizarre Facts about yourself
I have jumped out of an aeroplane!
